wifi intel 5100agn su Fedora 10

Salve a tutti.

Sul pc desktop a casa ho installato Ubuntu. Sul notebook che uso a lavoro sono dovuto passare da Ubuntu a Fedora perché si usano software IBM certificati solo per RedHat.

Il notebook che uso a lavoro è un HP dv5-1020el.

Il problema è che, sul notebook, Ubuntu mi rileva correttamente la scheda wireless, mentre Fedora 10 non la rileva.

Ho notato che cerca di caricare il driver della scheda wireless Intel 5100agn.
Effettivamente Ubuntu 8.10 contiene in /lib/firmware il driver 'iwlwifi-5000-1.ucode' mentre Fedora 10 non lo ha.

Allora ho scaricato i driver per la serie 5000 da intellinuxwireless.org:

Ho scompattato il file *.tar.gz e ho copiato il contenuto nella nella cartella /lib/firmaware di Fedora 10.
Funziona, ma leggendo altri forum mi sembra di capire che questo non è il modo corretto per procedere.
Forse è meglio aggiungere un pacchetto, oppure scaricare un kernel già con la modifica adatta ?

uhmmmmmmm, non capisco quale sia il problema, se funziona, "metodo" corretto o no, non lo trovo un problema :lol:
